Employment tribunal deadline calculator

Most tribunal claims must be started within a strict time limit. From 1 October 2026 most limits are six months instead of three, but only where what happened was on or after that date. Pick what happened and when, and this works out your last day. It runs in your browser: nothing you enter is sent anywhere.

What is it about?
General information, not advice about your situation. Time limits are strict and tribunals accept late claims only in rare cases, so do not rely on that. Check your date with ACAS on 0300 123 1100.

How the time limits work

For most claims the limit is "three months less one day", or "six months less one day" where the act or dismissal was on or after 1 October 2026. So if you were dismissed on 15 October 2026, the last day is 14 April 2027.

You must contact ACAS before the limit runs out. The days between ACAS receiving your notification (Day A) and you receiving the certificate (Day B) do not count. If the limit would then end less than a month after Day B, you get until one month after Day B. Read the ACAS early conciliation guide.
